James S.1I'm a customer at another credit union in the Co-Op network. I've tried multiple times to get access to the ATM lobby after hours, which you're supposed to be able to unlock with any credit or debit card, but it has never worked. I can't comment on the experience after business hours, but this has been a frustrating waste of time.
Response from the ownerDear James, I’m sorry to hear that your experience with the branch ATM was less than exceptional. I would like the opportunity to discuss your personal situation more in detail so that I can better assist you and provide solutions. Please feel free to contact me directly at (800) 479-7928, ext. 81702. Best Regards, Eric Mose Branch Service Manager

Termination Shok4This credit union has good service, doesn’t have too many bad fees vs banks, and mostly does a good job. This branch is a city branch and has city problems. Also, there are no tellers here. Anyone who works here is just there to coach you on how to use an atm. If I only needed the atm, why would I even make the trip to a branch?

JP G3I'm a fan of credit unions and so I decided to join RCU last year. I usually use the account incidentally and totally online, but today I had a need to withdraw cash from a human teller. I was disappointed that this location no longer has tellers, and I had left my ATM card at home, so I couldn't do a withdrawal as a shared-banking branch from my other CU nor from RCU. If they didn't previously have this service a few years ago, I wouldn't be disappointed, but it is not great to take away an important banking service for SF customers of this CU, as this is the only SF location.
Response from the ownerDear JP, We apologize that experience was less than exceptional. I would like the opportunity to discuss your personal situation more in detail so that I can better assist you and provide solutions. Response from the ownerDear Valerie, I was very sorry to hear about your experience with the branch ATM. Redwood Credit Union always strives to provide excellent service to our Members, so as the Manager of our San Francisco branch, I become concerned when a Member tells us their experience was less than exceptional. I would like the opportunity to discuss your personal situation more in detail so that I can better assist you and provide solutions. Please feel free to contact me directly at 800-479-7928 ext. 80901. Best Regards, Erika Boulding Branch Experience Manager

Ian H1They are not helpful to people in the shared branching network. They like to charge a fifty cent fee for a roll of quarters (so petty) but you won’t have to worry about that because now they insist you do all your business through the ATM unless you have an account directly with them. I would like to see them kicked out of the “shared branching network” they are not any more useful/helpful than the machine at 7-Eleven. I almost opened an account there when I was living near by, really glad I didn’t.

Phuc Nguyen5It is the first time I have a chance to become the member of the Redwood Credit Union. Everything here is perfect. I am very happy with the service which this bank gives me. Especially Sami who works in this bank, helped me a lot . He worked very patiently and so effectively. He listened to me carefully and solve my problems so fast.I am very satisfied with the financial knowledge he gave me. I will recommend this bank to many friends and relatives in the Bay Area. I am very happy and proud of being a member of Redwood Credit Union.

Jon Fierstein (NightshadeInSF)5I switched to RCU after being completely fed up of banks getting rich off of charging me fees for every single interaction between me and them. I was extremely skeptical of RCU's promises because I had heard them over and over. The fact of the matter is RCU lives up to its promises. In the last 18 months since I switched to RCU, I have paid $0 in fees. The most recent interaction I had with them was to get a cashier's check as I was moving into a new building. 8 2as expecting there to be a $20 fee for this service but they told me the fee is actually $5 but they would waive that fee for me(They didnt say why they were waiving it). When I go into the branch and speak to a banker, instead of pushing credit cards or some other sale on me, they simply let me know what special I qualify for and tell me to ask them about it when we finish our transaction if I am interested. RCU doesn't have many SF locations so I was worried I would be spending money on ATM fees alot to withdraw money. As it is, they have a fairly wide partner network so finding an ATM thats free is usually quite easy. In the rare occasion when it is not they refund ATM fees for the first few non-network atms. I cant remember exactly how many...I think its 3 but it might only be 2 each month. Anyway, my overall RCU experience has been awesome and I wouldn't switch for any reason.

Chris White1The places is one of the most backwards financial institutions I have encountered in a while. First I should have figured when I had to call 3 times to open my account it would be tough, but I didn't. After I finally got the account open I tried to transfer money into it, BUT then do not allow that for 60 days. As a resulted they charged me $3. There are a lot of great Credit Unions in the Bay Area... this is NOT one.

Kevin Jaskela4I'm a bit biased because I've been with Redwood Credit Union since I was a kid but, with that being said it is still the only bank I'm aware of that has absolutely FREE checking. No gimmicks, no fine print. Walk in and get a free checking account today! The customer service at this location is pretty great as well. They're fast and courteous. If only this branch had a better location with parking and was open on Saturday.
Response from the ownerThank you for taking the time to review Redwood Credit Union. I will share your comments with our entire team. Please feel free to contact us directly anytime you have questions or concerns.

Destiny Gentry3It took my husband and I FOUR hours to do an auto loan signing that we had already been approved for. It was quite a lengthy process especially having our toddler with us. I would give it less stars but all of the employees were very friendly.
