Have a car loan through Pawtucket Credit for 3 years. Never had an issue until this month and had to call. I'm not sure if Jonathan was having a bad day, or is just upset that he gets paid poorly for doing a job usually reserved for women, but he was one of the rudest secretaries I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. From now on, any communication with PCU will be done through the mail.

awful customer service; all they do is give you the run around and just transfers you all over the place. I do not recommend this bank at all!!!

      Response from the owner

Poor business practices. Growth at the expense of their customers. No perks or benefits for good standing customers. Hit a hard time, they’ll extort you and only make things more difficult.

Poorly run business overall. Feel bad for the customer support here as they have to deal with loan payment systems that are behind modern times.

I was told extra payments made would be applied automatically to my principal balance. I noticed my loan wasn’t going down much so I called again today. This representative informed me that any extra payments made goes to satisfying 2 loan payments before any extra is applied to the principal. Eg. my loan payment is 300dollars a month. I pay 400 each month. The extra 100 dollars stays in escrow until 4 extra 100 dollars are paid and it goes toward another months payment and NOT TO THE PRINCIPAL. You have to send a separate check that says pay to principal. I feel cheated big time as this information was not passed on to me. I have been paying extra months. I will definitely find another bank that tells you the truth upfront! EDIT... I was contacted by a bank representative, who explained to me that the information given was not so correct. She stated that because I pay twice per month, the system basically holds on to that payment until the other payment is made to satisfy the full loan payment. So in order for my extra payments to be credited to the principal, I should pay once, with the extra included. That way the loan is satisfied and the extra goes to my principal at the same time. Thank you Ms Smith for following up and clearing up the previously given information.

      Response from the owner

PCU overpaid my homeowners by $800.00 so my account ended up being in the negative. Once that was cleared up I closed the escrow so I pay my own bills since PCU had a hard time with that. Now I get a letter saying I owe money for the Closed escrow account.

Worst possible service. I recently moved and changed my address. My debit card expired at the end of the month and i hadnt received a new one. I tried requesting one thru the app, its not an option. Tried going online to do it, also not an option. I called card services and was directed by a machine to the branch. The branch transfered me to a representative. The respresentative transfered transfered me to a representative at us bank. Yeah, us bank, surprise. And he couldnt find my account. 30 min in all and i still have to walk in to my nearest branch. Waste of time and completely unprofessional. I will be closing my accounts definitely. Ive been in the business for 35 yrs, this was by far the most ridiculous experience ever. Bye pawtucket credit union. Boo

Terrible customer service. I could not remember my log in or password so I tried to resolve it online but there is no way to do that so I called and held on for 10 minutes then the phone just rang and rang. Then I called the 1-800 number and they kept me on hold even longer. Need less to say, I never received my online information. I will never do business with them again. by the way, their car loan rates are very high and I need to refinance.

Terrible customer service. Created an account and deposited funds on 4.10. Had no access to my accounts or to view my account numbers until i called on 4.17 to see the issue. Which ultimately ended up being an issue with a system on PCU’s end. During the phone call on 4.17 the issue was resolved. BUT this caused another issue. Because my account was held up for a week, so was the processing of my debit card. Which after another call yesterday i was informed it was sent out on 4.22 and would take 7-10 business days to be mailed to me with NO OFFER to expedite it to me due to the issue. So basically because of issues on PCU’s end it will be probably the beginning of May for me to access my account in the convenient fashion i wanted. I wouldn't have enrolled online if i wanted to go into a branch. Which i will be doing on my next free day to close this account and withdraw my money(tomorrow actually). I wont even rant about the associates handling of theses issues because the root of the problem starts at the top and trickles down.

I have been with PCU for about 20 years. Have banked at Citizens and a couple of others. Will never look back, Pawtucket Credit Union is where I will be staying for good! Customer service is exceptional and they offer everything I need with no fees attached! What's left to say!
