Kevin Barkley4Edit for the 1* review I left earlier, they ended up moving mountains to make sure we could close with having the title search done. While I didn’t like how it was handled at first they ended up coming through and remained professional with me even though they knew I left a bad review. While the seller still didn’t close and we cancelled the agreement in the end the title company pulled through. So we had a for sale by owner experience and the owner suggested, Mitchell Title Company, we had 60 days to close and we had to sell our house. During this time my mortgage company requested multiple times for the title work, we are now within 7 days of closing and my mortgage company called them to see why they haven’t gotten the title info requested over the last month. They informed them that the owner contacted them and said they did not have any intention of closing so don’t waste your time. (Or something along those lines) so they sat on it. We are ready and willing but now we can’t hold the owners to the legal contract because the title company decided not to do the title search as requested a month or so ago. My Lender (20yrs experience) said he has never experienced something like this with a title company. If I could give a zero * I would. 50 plus days of spending money, planning, and dreaming and they decided to not allow us to hold the seller to the agreement. Mitchell Title tell me if I am wrong, please let’s see you try to justify this.
Response from the ownerI am sorry that you are not happy but I don't think you were informed of the entire situation. First of all, you have not relayed any of this to our office, we heard from the lender and realtor that you just completed your sale. this was contingent on you sell a home and we were informed by realtor NOT to order any services until this was done. this saves clients money just in case a contingency is not met. You did not keep in touch with our office to keep us updated on your sale. we were just contacted yesterday by your lender and that's when your closer told them we had not ordered anything yet and even your lender said there is no way they can get this closed by the time of your contract 7-1-20. even if we had title and survey, your lender is not ready to close this. you will need to reach out to your realtor about an extension or any actions you may want to pursue against the seller should they decide not to sell at this time. I believe the seller became terminally sick. there are a lot more people involved in handling this than just us, so if you don't communicate with us and let us try and explain, its not fair to just dump on us. you don't have the complete situation. we are not in charge of when you can close this, your lender is. you closer has been trying to reach you to discuss and I am available anytime for discussion. thank you.

Kara B2EDIT - After speaking with Lisa today, concerning my contract, I realized she is very helpful and knowledgeable. It was a worker that we dealt with at the time of closing, which no longer works there, that triggered my negative response, which Lisa apologized for. So, if you are able to work directly with Lisa, I would recommend Mitchell Title. If I could give zero/negative stars, I would. As a buyer, our sellers decided to owner finance with us. Which I would assume would cut out a lot of closing paperwork and make it extremely easy on a title company. From the moment our sellers decided to work with Mitchell (beginning of July), until our closing date on July 31st, I received no communication. Anytime we communicated it was because I made the call. I had to call 2 days before our closing date to ask if they would still be setting up an appointment for me, only for them to have misplaced my file. Once it was found, I was asked what time was good for me and I would receive a call back if that time didn't work for the sellers. I never received a call, showed up at 9 am sharp on closing date, to be told the sellers wouldn't be in until 11. After signing all the paperwork, we were told we could either have our deed mailed or receive a call and pick it up, once it was processed. I chose to receive a call and pick it up, because of our change of address. I call on 08/15 to see where we are in the process and I was told it was mailed yesterday. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Krysten Gorum2I NEVER leave bad reviews but let me just say this, of you're purchasing property, use this title company. If you are selling property stay away. We did a dual closing here. When selling, our agent added up the cost of the property wrong in favor of the buyer, twice. They put things in the contract that had we not read very carefully could have given us the shaft. Our purchasing experience was much better with a different agent, Sheina. She is the saving grace of this place. Everyone else hasn't got a clue.
