Scam, I received a letter asking for NYC RPTT and NYC RETT when the co-op seller already pay for it. Also how they have my signature with notary stamp. Even though most information is not correct I will have my attorney send them a demand letter .

We were happy to insure your purchase of ****** Street ***** City, New York on ****** of 20**. Prior to your closing, we annexed searches of the Certificate of Occupancy records and tax records to our title report. The Certificate of Occupancy records showed a Certificate of Occupancy issued in **** for a “Dwelling”. The Tax Assessor’s records show that the building was taxed by *** as a two family dwelling beginning in ****. Because the NYC Building Department determines legal occupancy, the **** designation as a “Dwelling” rendered the building legal for occupancy as a single family dwelling. This was indicated on your title insurance invoice. Purchasers of NYC real estate are represented by an attorney and New York Title Agents are prohibited from giving legal advice in connection with the transaction. I am sorry that the conflicting information provided by the NYC Department of Finance and the NYC Building Department caused confusion over the building’s legal status and we apologize for the expense and inconvenience incurred by you. I hope that you will consider using Landstar Title for a future real estate purchase or refinance.
